Minister of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony visits Aga Khan Museum; acknowledges their role in Community Service & Outreach

Canada Pakistan Business Council (CPBC) had the distinct honor to coordinate the visit of the Minister for Hajj & Religious Affairs to the Aga Khan Museum during his recent visit to Canada. The minister was accorded a very warm welcome by the President of the Ismaili Council of Ontario, Ms. Sheherazade Hirji, Director of Aga Khan Museum, Mr. Henry Kim and other senior members of the Council. This trip was initiated by the Council General of Pakistan Mr. Asghar Ali Golo in reaching out to the Ismaili Community reinforcing his vision of bringing communities together.


The Minister generously thanked and acknowledged the Ismaili Community for rendering their services to the metropolitan society for the contributions by Sir Aga khan III and the community during the time of sub-continent’s partition. Honourable and modest Peer Muhammad Amin Ul Hasnat Shah acknowledged the hospitals, health care centres, and social service institutions established by Aga Khan rendering services in Pakistan to the community at large. He accredited Aga Khan’s pluralist outlook on diversity and tolerance.


He offered his deep regrets and condolences in the recent Safforah Goth incident in Karachi. He further went on to mention that unfortunately terrorism has not spared Mosques, Madrasas, Mandirs, Gurdwaras, Churches and other religious locations and communities irrespective of their faith, even  schools and community centers have become targets. He assured every one of the firmness of the government of Pakistan’s fight against this war of terrorism and was pleased to inform that substantial progress has been made in this regard be it both physically and economically.


Earlier the President of the Ismaili Council of Ontario Ms. Sheherazade Hirji, welcomed the Minister and appreciated the initiative to visit the Museum. She appreciated the exceptional efforts of Council General of Pakistan Mr. Asghar Ali Golo in playing a very significant role for bringing the communities together. She further acknowledged and thanked CPBC and Samir Dossal for the proactive role and leadership in building bridges in Canada and beyond.


He was highly appreciative of the Aga Khan Museum; a great gift from the Muslim community to Canada and the world in the form of this exceptionally great museum; highlighting the wonderful role of Muslim Ummah in the development of civil society and culture at large; understanding that traditionalism and modernity always converges for which this museum is quite an architectural landmark benchmarking Islamic history and aesthetics.


Mr. Henry Kim took the opportunity to describe the overall philosophy and concept of the Aga Khan Museum and the expected role that this museum and community centre can play in creating a better understanding of various societies and civilizations while promoting the positive image of Islam.


Samir Dossal acknowledged and appreciated the gesture of goodwill by the Aga Khan Museum and the Ismaili community by showcasing the work of six contemporary artists of the Pakistani origin at the inauguration of the Museum.


The Minister in conclusion thanked everyone for their efforts, especially the Canadians of Pakistani origin for being great ambassadors in portraying the cultural side of the Muslim Ummah and commended the Museum for providing a platform for doing the same.

  2. Wonderful Initiative. Kudos to Consul General Golo Sahib and Minister of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Peer Muhammad Amin Ul Hasnat Shah Sahib for this show of solidarity. Respect for each other will always create peace and harmony! Thank you Samir Dossal Sb for assisting in your always great work for Canada-Pakistan relations. The likes of Dossal Sb, Golo Sb and Peer Shah Sb will change Pakistan for the better. Let there be more like them!
